BOWLING
at Berkshire (11/25)- The NDCL Boys and Girls Bowling teams defeated Berkshire in their third match of the regular season. Boys Bowling topped the Badgers 1918-1771. The team was led by senior Mitchell Wesen with a 196 high game and 374 series. Girls Bowling won by over 200-pins 1554-1340. Senior Josie Mislay was the high bowler for the Lions in the match with a 168 high game and 334 series. NDCL Boys Bowling and Girls Bowling moved to 2-1 and 3-0 to start the season.
SWIMMING
vs Kirtland (11/25)- NDCL Boys and Girls Swimming defeated Kirtland 96-17 and 82-20 in their meet of the 2025-26 regular season.
Hilltopper Invitational (11/29)- NDCL Girls and Boys Swimming competed at the Chardon Hilltopper Invitational at Perry High School on Saturday. The girls team finished in 10th place of 30+ competing teams. Leading the way for NDCL in familiar fashion was senior Brooke Dynes, who won the 100-breaststroke race with a time of 1:05.56. Dynes' time of 1:05.56, breaking her previous school record that she set last season. Dynes was also named a preseason first team all-star by Cleveland.com prior to the meet. The boys team took 17th place in the Hilltopper Invitational. Both teams return to the pool on Wednesday, December 3rd versus Eastlake North at the West End YMCA.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
at Kenston (11/25)- NDCL Girls Varsity Basketball erased a 14-point second half deficit to come back and beat Kenston 47-46. The Lions 28-point second half propelled them to their second road win after trailing at the start of each quarter. A late steal and basket by Maya Rowan tied the game 46-46, and Frankie Sargi split a pair of free throws with less than a minute left to give the Lions a one-point lead and the win. The Lions were led by Coco Cochran with her second straight game with 13-points, a game-high. Maya Rowan tallied nine and Brynn Munn contributed seven points. The Lions will be back in action on Sunday, December 7th versus Shaker Heights in the fourth annual DY Classic.
ICE HOCKEY
vs Nordonia (11/28)- NDCL Ice Hockey topped Nordonia 6-2 in game one of the Nordonia Thanksgiving Tournament at Gilmour Ice Arena. Sophomore Nic Davis led the Lions with a game-high of three goals in the contest. Fellow sophomore Joshua Hollobaugh and freshman Josh Gucciardo both tallied one goal apiece in the win. Senior Klara Stergar and Colin Krajnak both recorded two assists each and Luis Enrique Heredia contributed one. Goalie Nate McClellan notched 15 saves in the game.
vs Solon (11/29)- NDCL Ice Hockey fell 9-2 to Solon in their second and final game of the Nordonia Thanksgiving Tournament. Lion goals were scored by sophomore Anthony Golden and Josh Gucciardo. Nate McClellan recorded a career-high of 45 saves in the contest. NDCL Ice Hockey returns to the ice on Saturday, December 6th versus Brooklyn at Mentor Ice Arena.
BOYS BASKETBALL
Varsity vs St. Edward (11/30)- NDCL Boys Varsity Basketball lost 89-50 to St. Edward playing in the Cleveland Basketball Classic to start the 2025-26 regular season. After a strong first quarter showing by the Lions, the Eagles offense found their rhythm and stormed into halftime with a 51-25 lead and did not look back. NDCL was led by junior forward Wesley Jacobson with a career and game-high of 18 points. Seniors Brendan Hernan and Luke Keep also contributed double-figure scoring with 11 and 10 points respectively. The Lions will be back in action on Friday, Decmeber 5th as they host the Hawken Hawks in McGarry Gym for game two.
