NDCL's Commitment to Constant and Continual Improvement
Lion Stadium at Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin School was re-dedicated on August 24
th featuring a blessing by NDCL Chaplain Fr. James Caddy and 50+ guests including alumni, current and former booster members, donors, and friends of the school. The
Home of the Lions has the look and feel of a brand new space.
"With absolute gratitude and hope, we rededicate Lion Stadium. Since 1988, there has been a commitment to constant and continual improvement of campus facilities and student programs. I am grateful to the leadership of the Sisters of Notre Dame, the Cathedral Latin Alumni Association, the Notre Dame Schools Board of Directors, NDCL Athletic Boosters, and to the many people who give so generously to make these efforts possible" shared Dr. Bates, President of Notre Dame Schools.
New additions that enhance the stadium experience for students, alumni, families, and guests include:
- New 1,400-seat home grandstand and press box on west side of field
- Permanent restrooms
- Permanent concessions
- Permanent Lion Spirit shop
- Ticket windows
- New entry plaza
- Alumni Patio
A special addition to Lion Stadium was a cornerstone from Cathedral Latin School's building at University Circle that is placed in the stadium's plaza inside the home gate. The cornerstone is a tribute to the foundation that the "Men of Latin" set forth, in partnership with the Sisters of Notre Dame, to create the exceptional school community that is Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin School today. The dedication plaque beneath the cornerstone reads:
From 1916 to 1979, the "Home of the Lions" in deed and in truth
was Cathedral Latin School in Cleveland's University Circle.
Since 1988, that legacy lives on in the hearts and minds
of the students and alumni of Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin School.
May this cornerstone from Cathedral Latin inspire the foundation for today's Lions.
Together, we educate leaders who transform the world, as Jesus did,
by living the truth in love.
