Chardon, OH (May 31, 2023) -- The Crown Conference will disband after next school year with the departures of Padua, Lake Catholic, NDCL and Beaumont to the new North Coast Conference, which will begin in the fall of
2024. The North Coast Conference (NCC) will include Padua, Holy Name, Elyria Catholic, Beaumont, Lake Catholic, NDCL and CVCA.
"The NCC is a fit for us in a variety of different ways: enrollment, sports offered, and competitiveness were all key factors in exploring this option," said incoming NDCL Athletic Director Jason Baxter. "We are very excited for this next chapter, and truly believe that this is what is best for Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin and our student-athletes"
"We were looking to find a combination of schools with similar enrollments and sport offerings. With the changes across a number of conferences in the area, the opportunity presented itself for the seven schools to come together to form this new conference, " said Athletic Director Kevin Leigh from Padua Franciscan High School. "We believe the North Coast Conference will be a very competitive conference across all sports with our member schools."
NDCL and all of the NCC schools will compete in their current conference during the 2023-24 school year, with North Coast Conference play beginning in the Fall of 2024.
