Congratulations to Ella Workinger on being named News-Herald Player of the Week for the week of October 6th!
Workinger earned this honor for her outstanding play in the OHSAA DII Girls Tennis Singles Tournament on Friday, October 10th. With her 2-0 performance at districts, Workinger qualified for the state tournament for the second straight year as a sophomore. Last year, she competed in DI Doubles with her teammate Elena Fleming '24 and finished as the state runners-up.
Workinger entered the district tournament as the third seed. In her first-round district match, she defeated the two-seed from Orange High School 6-3, 6-2. She then faced the one-seed from Canfield High School in the second round and won 6-3, 6-4 to advance to the state tournament.
Workinger enters the OHSAA DII Girls Tennis singles state tournament as the fourth seed. The state tournament begins on Thursday, October 16th at the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Cincinnati.
