BOWLING
MLK Tournament (1/19)- The Boys and Girls Bowling teams competed in the MLK Tournament hosted by Brush at Roseland Lanes on Monday. The girls team finished in seventh place of 18 teams with 2,475 total pins. Junior Marielle Matz recorded the team's high series with a 389. Senior Josie Mislay scored the high game for the Lions with a 173. The boys team placed 18th out of 26 teams with a total of 3,073 pins. Senior Aaron Cotturo led the team with a 208 high game and 547 high series.
Girls vs Brush/Collinwood (1/21)- Girls Bowling defeated both Brush (1643-1391) and Collinwood (1643-891) in a home tri-match. Josie Mislay was the high bowler in the match with a 160 high game and 317 high series. Freshman Maggie Dunlap bowled her career high game in the match with a 102.
at Bedford (1/22)- Girls Bowling improved to 10-4 on the season with a 500-pin win over Bedford 1712-1118. Josie Mislay led the Lions with a 159 high game and 310 high series. Freshman Maggie Dunlap and Maddie Berry recorded their career high games and high series in the match. The boys team fell in a close match to Bedford 2113-2018. Aaron Cotturo had the high game of 215 and Alex Willis notched the high series of 374 for the Lions. Derek Scheidt contributed his season high game. Boys Bowling moved to a 4-8 record with five regular season matches remaining.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
at Padua (1/21)- Girls Varsity Basketball fell 80-32 to Padua in an NCC road matchup. The Lions were led by Brynn Munn and Frankie Sargi that tied for a team-high of 11 points and three three-pointers each. Sargi's 11 points and three three-pointers marked two new career-highs for the junior. The Lions will look to bounce back hosting Elyria Catholic on Saturday afternoon in McGarry Gym.
INDOOR TRACK
NEOITC Green Meet #2 (1/22)- The Girls and Boys Indoor Track teams competed in the NEOITC Green Meet #2 at SPIRE on Thursday. Lucy Edger led the Lions with a first-place finish in the 800M run with a time of 2:26.48. Elena Kijauskas took sixth in the 60M hurdles (12.79) and Melanie Drazdik finished seventh in shot put (23-6.5). The 4x200 and 4x400 relay teams both took fifth place with times of 1:57.43 and 4:37.21. For the boys team, Kristian Mazar had the top individual finish taking fourth in high jump with a 5'4 mark. Andrew Sepelak followed in sixth place with a 5'5 mark and took seventh in the 60M hurdles with a time of 9.46. Kyle Nedved took sixth in the 3200M run with a time of 10:40.80. The 4x200 relay finished second (1:32.30) and the 4x400 team took third place (3:29.35).
GIRLS GYMNASTICS
The High School Challenge (1/23)- Girls Gymnastics finished in second place overall of 11 teams competing in the highly anticipated High School Challenge at Cleveland Public Auditorium. As a team, the Lions tied for third on vault and bars, second on beam, and fifth on floor. Ava Lewandowski took third on vault, seventh in the all-around, 10th on beam, and 11th on floor. Anna Barabas finished seventh on beam, eighth on floor, and 11th in the all-around. Sarah Kent led the team on bars with a 10th place finish. Congratulations to the Girls Gymnastics team on such an impressive finish in one of the area's most competitive meets.
WRESTLING
vs Cleveland JFK/Eastlake North (1/22)- NDCL Wrestling hosted a tri-match with Cleveland JFK and Eastlake North for their annual "LaceUp" match honoring Envision Blind Sports. The Lions defeated Cleveland JFK 60-12 for their first match win of the season and fell to Eastlake North 48-36. Picking up wins for the team in the match was Wil Dauenhauer, David O'Reilly, Carter Lesniok, Sal Hoenigman, Lauren Cameron, Anthony Chamoun, Braeden Jacobson, Massimo Beatrice, and Caleb Roach.
Chardon JV Tournament (1/24)- Members of the NDCL Wrestling team competed in the Chardon JV Tournament at Chardon High School. The Lions finished in eighth place of 23 teams and were led by freshman Wil Dauenhauer with a first-place finish at 106. Braeden Jacobson (165) and Zach Bores (190) both took second place, and Anthony Chamoun finished third in his weight class.
