GIRLS BOWLING
Allie Wiseman/Josie Mislay at Districts (2/23)- Allie Wiseman and Josie Mislay competed in the DI District Tournament at Rebman Recreation on Monday. Wiseman finished in 46th place of 124 individual bowlers with a three-game series score of 489 (159-188-157). Josie Mislay finished 83rd individually of 124 bowlers with a three-game series score of 414 (159-123-132). Congratulations, Allie and Josie, on their terrific senior seasons and bowling careers at NDCL!
GIRLS BASKETBALL
at Akron Ellet (2/25)- Girls Basketball fell 62-31 to Akron Ellet in the district semifinal, ending their season. A cold shooting night for NDCL and a season-high 50 percent shooting for Ellet led to the Lions' demise. Coco Cochran scored a team-high 12 points and Maya Rowan followed with nine. Girls Basketball completes the 2025-26 season with a 12-12 overall record. Congratulations to the Girls Basketball program on a successful and exciting season!
SWIMMING
Brooke Dynes/Max Platz at State (2/26)- Brooke Dynes advanced to Friday's state finals in both her events, the 100-breast and 200-IM. She took 11th place in the 200-IM (2:12.24) and fourth in the 100-breast (1:04.20) in Thursday's prelims to move on to the finals. In Friday's state final, Dynes finished ninth in the 200-IM (2:11.21) and fourth in the 100-breast (1:04.00). Max Platz took fourth place in both the 50-free (39.90) and 100-back (1:58.12) in the state paralympic finals on Friday. Congratulations to Brooke and Max on your top ten state finishes and remarkable seasons!
BOYS BASKETBALL
vs Firelands (2/27)- Boys Basketball dominated Firelands 72-50 in the first round of the OHSAA tournament played in McGarry Gymnasium. After a back and forth first half of play, the Lions found their offensive rhythm in the third quarter, outscoring Firelands 20-9 to lead 51-34 heading into the fourth. NDCL did not look back, scoring 21 more points in the fourth quarter and finishing the game with 72 points to Firelands' 50. The team was led by Wes Jacobson with a game-high 20 points and four made three-pointers. Jack Sonby followed with 19 points, a new career-high for the junior along with three three-pointers. Brendan Hernan and Jason Rook both contributed with double-digit scoring with 13 and ten points, respectively. The Lions advance to the district final to face the Cardinals of Canfield on Tuesday, March 3rd at Canfield High School.
WRESTLING
OHSAA Sectionals (2/28)- NDCL Wrestling finishes in 13th place of 14 teams competing in the DII Sectional Tournament at West Branch High School. Braeden Jacobson and Carter Lesniok were the top finishers for the Lions, both taking sixth place in their weight classes at 165 and 132. The Wrestling team's 2025-26 season comes to an end at sectionals. Lauren Cameron took sixth place individually in her weight class in the OHSAA Girls Sectional Wrestling tournament. Congratulations to the Boys and Girls Wrestling teams on a great season!
GIRLS GYMNASTICS
OHSAA Districts (2/28)- Girls Gymnastics finished in 11th place of 21 teams in the OHSAA District Meet at Hudson High School. Ava Lewandowski placed 18th on vault, 43rd in the all-around, and 47th on floor. Anna Barabas took 22nd on vault and 52nd in the all-around. Sarah Ringenback finished 36th on beam and Sarah Kent was 60th in the all-around. Congratulations to the Girls Gymnastics team on an impressive season full of terrific performances and achievements!
