Lion Sports Weekly (Week of April 6th)

BASEBALL 
at Padua (4/6)- Varsity Baseball fell 0-7 to Padua on the road in their second conference game of the young season. JV Baseball lost 0-12 to Padua at home.  

vs Padua (4/7)-
 Both the Varsity and JV Baseball games versus Padua have been postponed due to cold temperatures. The games will be rescheduled for a later date. 

vs Fort Frye (4/9)-
 Varsity Baseball fell 5-7 in a close battle with Fort Frye at Marietta College. Lucas Marlow went 1-3 in his at-bats, hit a double, and recorded two RBI. Aaron Hackney also recorded a hit on two at-bats, tallied one run, and two RBI. Joey Mazzolini, Jason Rook, and Evan Eichas all contributed one hit each in the game. Aiden McCord and Lucas Marlow appeared on the mound for the Lions and combined for three strikeouts and four earned runs.  

vs Fort Frye (4/10)-
 Varsity Baseball defeated Fort Frye 6-2 at Marietta College in the second game of their back-to-back. Aiden McCord paced the Lions with two hits, one run, and one RBI. Zach Unetic also contributed one hit and a game-high four RBI. Jack Montague and Keenan Ryans recorded one hit, one run, and one RBI each in the win. Joey Mazzolini picked up the win on the mound for the Lions. Mazzolini faced 24 batters, struck out two, and allowed only four opponent hits and two earned runs. Keenan Ryans closed the game in the final two innings, also striking out two batters. Varsity Baseball moved to 2-3 to start the season. The team will be back in action on Monday, April 13th in a conference battle with Elyria Catholic at home. 
 
SOFTBALL 
vs Madisonville North (4/7)-Varsity Softball fell 7-9 to Madisonville North in their first game of the team's spring break trip to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. Bella Wooke recorded the Lions' first home run of the season on 1-3 hitting and four RBI. Lily Rader went 2-4 in her at-bats, hit two triples, and recorded two RBI and two runs. Becca Wooke also contributed a hit, one run, and one RBI in the game. Alex Mould recorded 11 strikeouts in six innings pitched and allowed only two earned runs.  

vs Bishop Brossart (4/8)-
 Varsity Softball lost in a one run heartbreaker to Bishop Brossart 9-10. The Lions recorded a season-high of 13 hits in the game from seven different players. Leading the way was Alex Mould going 3-4 in her at-bats with two runs, one RBI, and hit her first home run of the season. Bella Wooke also recorded three hits on three at-bats, three runs, and a triple. Maya Rowan and Sadie Wurm both contributed two hits and one run each. Annaliese Racic, Lily Rader, and Mould all made an appearance on the mound in the game for the Lions.  

vs Nicholas County (4/8)-
 Varsity Softball dominated Nicholas County 13-1 for their first win of the season. Sophie Hoge paced the Lions with a career best game, going 3-4 in her at-bats with one run and two RBI. Becca Wooke went 2-3 with two runs, and two RBI. Bella Wooke recorded two hits, two runs, and a game-high four RBI. Alex Mould hit a home run for the second straight game on 1-3 hitting and two RBI. Mould also pitched all five innings for the Lions, not allowing only four opponent hits, no earned runs, and had 10 strikeouts.  

vs Elizabethtown (4/9)-
 Varsity Softball defeated Elizabethtown 7-0 for their second straight win and final game of the team's spring break trip to Pigeon Forge. Sienna Steinmetz had her best game of the season so far for the Lions, going 4-4 in her at-bats, hit a home run, recorded three total runs, and one RBI. Becca Wooke went 3-4 hitting and tallied three RBI. Alex Mould had two hits on three at-bats with one run and one RBI. Lily Rader also contributed a hit, two runs, and one RBI. Mould logged a season-high of 16 strikeouts on the mound with just one opponent hit and no earned runs. The Lions conclude their 2026 spring break trip to Pigeon Forge with a 2-2 record. 

at Beaumont (4/11)-
 Varsity Softball picked up their third straight win with a 22-1 conference victory over Beaumont. The team recorded a season-high of 22 runs, 19 hits, 17 RBI, and seven base hits. Nine out of the 13 players on the roster tallied at least one hit in the game. Bella Wooke was a perfect 4-4 hitting, with a team-high of four runs and three RBI. Her twin sister, Becca Wooke, also contributed four hits on five at-bats, three runs, and three RBI. Ava Ketring, Alex Mould, Lily Rader, and Izzy Bair-Pennington all logged two hits and at least one run and one RBI each. Mould pitched her first no-hitter of the season and logged seven strikeouts in just five innings. The Varsity Lions moved to 3-4 on the season and will be back in action on Monday, April 13 at Lake Catholic. 
 
BOYS LACROSSE 
vs Elyria Catholic (4/7)- Boys Varsity Lacrosse defeated Elyria Catholic 13-1 to start the season 2-0 in conference play. Carmen Cirino recorded a game and career-high of five goals in the win. Alex Jaworski and Marco Leccese scored two goals each, and Joey Velotta, Josh Hollobaugh, Canyon Yeager, and Josh Gucciardo all contributed one goal apiece. Cirino and Angelo Preziuso tied for a team-high of two assists and Velotta and Leccese tallied one assist each. In his first career varsity start, Owen Manning logged 10 saves in goal.  

vs West Geauga (4/9)-
 Boys Varsity Lacrosse won their second straight game with a 12-3 win over West Geauga at home. Carmen Cirino led the Lions once again, scoring a game-high of five goals and tying his career-high for the second consecutive game. Ryder Gorman also recorded a career-high with a three-goal hat trick. Alex Jaworski, Joey Velotta, Angelo Preziuso, and Will Paskevich all scored one goal apiece in the team victory.  

at Willoughby South (4/11)-
 Boys Varsity Lacrosse executed a 3-0 week with a 12-3 win over Willoughby South on the road. Ryder Gorman paced the Lions with a game and career-high of four goals. Alex Jaworski recorded his first career hat trick of three goals in the game. Marco Leccese, Angelo Preziuso, Joey Velotta, and Josh Gucciardo all scored one goal each in the team's third straight win. The Lions scored an impressive total of 37 goals across three games this week. Boys Varsity Lacrosse improved to 4-2 on the season and will be back on the road at CVCA on Tuesday, April 14.
