Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin boys soccer built an early advantage Thursday but was unable to hold off a second-half response from Mayfield, falling 4-3 at home.
The Lions started quickly, scoring twice before halftime to take control of the match. Mayfield responded after the break, scoring three second-half goals as the momentum shifted.
Three different Lions found the back of the net in the match. Eli Lauric scored his first goal of the season, while Dario Musa recorded his second goal of the year.
David Lann added a milestone moment for NDCL, scoring the first goal of his varsity career.
Jakob Henderson contributed an assist for the Lions.
Despite NDCL's productive attacking performance, Mayfield's second-half surge ultimately proved to be the difference in the one-goal result.
The Lions now turn their attention to North Coast Conference competition. NDCL travels to Benedictine on Tuesday, Sept. 1, for its next match.
