Senior Zoey Meyers opened her 2026 cross country season with a runner-up finish at the Keystone Icebreaker on Aug. 24.

Meyers placed second in a field of 159 runners in NDCL's first cross country competition of the season. She was the Lions' lone competitor at the meet.

The performance provided a strong opening result for Meyers, who returns after placing 30th at the 2025 Division II State Cross Country Championships and earning first-team All-North Coast Conference honors last fall.

Meyers also entered the cross country season following a successful track campaign. She placed seventh in the 800-meter run at the indoor state meet in March.

Her runner-up finish at Keystone began a season in which the Lions hope to see Meyers continue progressing toward another postseason run.

The remainder of the NDCL boys and girls teams were scheduled to open their seasons Aug. 29 at the HOKA Night of XC Showcase at SPIRE Academy.
