Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin girls soccer turned a two-goal halftime advantage into a decisive North Coast Conference victory Wednesday night, scoring six times in the second half to defeat Elyria Catholic, 8-1, at NDCL.

The Lions entered halftime leading 2-0 before their attack found another gear over the final 40 minutes.

Junior Ella Ko led the offensive surge with four goals and an assist. Senior Emilee Gruss added two goals and an assist, while senior Giavanna Tibaldi contributed two assists.

The night also included a varsity milestone for sophomore Paige Bobinski.

Bobinski scored the first varsity goal of her career in the 66th minute and needed only three more minutes to find the back of the net again, finishing the match with two goals.

NDCL's eight-goal performance came two days after the Lions battled Avon Lake to a scoreless draw. After recording their first shutout of the season Monday, the Lions followed with their highest-scoring performance among the results reported this season.

"Tonight was a night where all the things the team has been working on came together," head coach Pamela Malone said. "It was a great team effort for the win."

The Lions will look to carry that performance forward when they travel to Cardinal Mooney on Monday, Sept. 21, for a 7 p.m. match.
