Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin boys soccer controlled much of the possession and generated opportunities Tuesday but could not find the finishing touch in a 0-0 road draw against Benedictine.
Playing in North Coast Conference competition, the Lions dictated stretches of the match with the ball and worked to create chances in the attacking end.
Despite NDCL's possession and opportunities on goal, Benedictine kept the Lions off the scoreboard. NDCL's defense answered at the other end, preventing the Bengals from breaking through and securing a clean sheet.
The scoreless result provided a response for the Lions after a 4-3 setback against Mayfield in their previous match. NDCL had scored three times in that contest but conceded four; against Benedictine, the Lions tightened things defensively while continuing to create opportunities going forward.
Neither side was ultimately able to produce the deciding goal, sending NDCL home with a point from its conference road match.
The Lions will have a quick opportunity to turn their chances into goals when they return home Thursday, Sept. 3, to host Beachwood.
