Football Opens NCC Play at Holy Name: Game Day Information & Preview

Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin Football opens North Coast Conference play Thursday night, September 24, as the Lions travel to Brooklyn Memorial Stadium to take on Holy Name. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.

The Lions enter the second half of the regular season with a 4-1 record, while Holy Name comes into Thursday's matchup at 3-1. In addition to beginning conference play, the game carries postseason significance as both programs currently sit near the top of their respective Division III playoff regions.

Game Preview

Thursday marks NDCL's first North Coast Conference game of the 2026 season as the Lions begin the conference portion of their schedule.

The matchup also comes at an important point in the OHSAA playoff race. Following Week 5, NDCL is No. 4 in Division III, Region 9 in Joe Eitel's unofficial Harbin computer rankings. Holy Name currently sits No. 5 in Division III, Region 10.

Joe Eitel's rankings are unofficial calculations and are not published by the OHSAA, but they provide a widely followed snapshot of the Harbin computer points used to determine postseason qualification and seeding.

The top 12 teams in each region following Week 10 qualify for the OHSAA playoffs.

While NDCL and Holy Name compete in separate playoff regions, Thursday's result will factor into each program's Harbin computer points as the postseason picture continues to develop.

With conference play beginning and both programs currently positioned inside the top five of their respective regions in the unofficial calculations, Thursday night provides an important opportunity as the regular season enters its second half.
