Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin responded to its first deficit of the night with a decisive two-minute drive, scoring late to defeat Holy Name 27-20 on Thursday.
The Lions led 19-13 until Holy Name connected on a fourth-down touchdown pass in the final three minutes to move ahead 20-19.
NDCL answered immediately.
Brady Capel directed the Lions down the field before connecting with Robby Lipowski on a 20-yard catch-and-run for the go-ahead touchdown. NDCL added the two-point conversion to regain the lead, 27-20.
Holy Name had one final opportunity, but Austin Otero knocked down a Hail Mary attempt as time expired to secure NDCL's fourth consecutive victory.
Lipowski also provided the game's opening points, returning an interception for a touchdown. Capel then broke free for a 60-yard touchdown run to give NDCL a 13-0 advantage.
After Holy Name capitalized on a muffed punt to make it 13-7, Capel again broke a long run before scoring from 1 yard out. Holy Name's special teams answered with a blocked punt returned for a touchdown, trimming NDCL's advantage to 19-13.
The Lions' defense held that margin until the closing minutes, setting the stage for NDCL's final drive.
Capel finished with 160 passing yards and a touchdown while rushing for 157 yards and two scores. Lipowski led the defense with nine tackles and added the pick-six, 60 rushing yards and the winning touchdown reception.
Otero recorded six tackles and an interception in addition to his final pass breakup.
NDCL improves to 5-1 and travels to Padua for its next contest.
