Andrew Mooney enters his 8th season as the head coach for Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin in 2022. 

Mooney is the winningest coach in Lions history, along the way amassing the most playoff appearances and wins. 
Under Mooney’s guidance the Lion have produced 22 All-Ohio and 66 All-District players, including being named Northeast Lakes District Coach of the year in 2015

Since 2015, the Lions have sent 25 players in the college ranks, included nine Division 1 players. 
Mooney, joined the NDCL faculty and football staff in August of 2014, previously served four years on the coaching staff at Ohio University, working primarily with the Bobcats’ offensive line. He holds undergraduate and graduate degrees from OU.

A native of Lubbock, Texas, Mooney played Division I football for New Mexico State University and Ohio University. While at New Mexico State, he was named Sun Belt All-Conference, Sun Belt Freshman of the Year, and Sporting News Freshman All-American. At OU he earned All-MAC honors in his junior and senior years while setting a single-season program record for touchdown receptions for any receive and holds the tight end record for career touchdowns and receiving yards. 

"During his time at Ohio University, Andrew was an outstanding leader on and off the field," commented OU Bobcats Head Coach Frank Solich. "He is bright and tough, and he truly understands the game of football. He was instrumental in taking the OU football program to the next level."

Mooney, lives in University Heights with his wife, Jennifer and two daughters, Reagan (4) and Reese (2). The son of an athletic family; his father played for the Baltimore Colts and Detroit Lions, and his mother was a successful track athlete, capturing five 1st place finishes in the Texas High School State Meet. Two sisters played college volleyball at Texas Tech, and another two sisters played college basketball: one at Baylor and another at Lubbock Christian.

Mooney also serves as the Lead Academic Coach and Assistant Athletic Director at NDCL.
