Pat Vuyancih

Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin School announced the hiring of Pat Vuyancih as the head boys basketball coach Friday morning during a meeting with the team.

Vuyancih has served as head coach at Lake Erie College, Mount Healthy High School (Cincinnati), and Euclid High School (Girls). He has also served as an assistant at Lake Catholic, Euclid, Mentor, and Hamilton High Schools.

"Coach Vuyancih comes to NDCL with a great reputation and extensive background in basketball,” said NDCL Athletic Director Jim Clark. “Pat has a vision for excellence for our boys basketball program. In the interview process, it became evident his passion to commit to the time necessary to build an outstanding program and the attention to detail needed.”    

A native of Euclid, Vuyancih is a graduate of Euclid High School. He was then a two-year letter winner for Cleveland State University under Kevin Mackey (1985-87). Vuyancih was a member of the 1986 Cleveland State NCAA Tournament that advanced to the Sweet 16.

After graduating from CSU, Vuyancih had an illustrious career in education. He served as a history teacher for 16 years, before turning to school administration. Vuyancih served in a variety of administrative roles within the Willoughby-Eastlake Schools and Wickliffe City Schools for 12 years. He has spent the past two years as a professor and program coordinator in the College of Education at Cleveland State University.

He has also found a niche in broadcasting over the past 20 years as a college and high school basketball broadcasting analyst for ESPN, MAC, Horizon League, and the Ohio High School Athletic Association State Championships. He has also served as part of the Cleveland State Basketball broadcasting team and as a Special Assistant to Cleveland State Athletic Director Scott Garrett.

Vuyancih, will join the NDCL faculty in the fall. He currently lives in Euclid with his wife, Aurea.
