Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin School Athletic Director Jason Baxter announced the hiring of Dan Palmer as the new head boys soccer coach on Monday morning.

Palmer comes to NDCL after successful stints at Case Western Reserve (Men’s Soccer) and Oberlin College (Women’s Soccer). He became the winningest head coach at both stops.

He was the head women’s soccer coach at Oberlin College from 2013-2022. His 2014 team earned the first winning season in 25 years and tied the school record for wins. In 2017, the team had the highest winning percentage in program history.

Palmer also had a successful nine-year tenure as the head men's soccer coach at nearby Case Western Reserve University (2004-2013) where he compiled a record of 87-65-16 while leading the Spartans to two University Athletic Association Championships and two NCAA Tournament appearances as he was also twice named UAA Coach of the Year.

"I am very excited to lead the Boys program at NDCL and am very appreciative of the opportunity,” Palmer said. “I look forward to helping our players continue to mature as soccer players and young men."

His other coaching stops include Hiram College (2002-03), William Woods University (1996-01), and North Central College (1984-1989).

“We are beyond thrilled to have Dan Palmer join the NDCL community," Baxter said. “Dan brings unprecedented coaching experience to the NDCL Soccer program, he has shown at his previous two positions that he is a program builder. His variety of experience and expertise in the sport immediately jumped out during the interview process, his 30 years of collegiate coaching experience will be extremely valuable to the program.”

He is a graduate of North Central College and the University of Northeastern Illinois. Palmer has received his USSF “C” National License and an NSCAA Premier Diploma.
