Mike Fleeman enters into his fourth year as head wrestling coach for Notre Dame Cathedral Latin High School. In his short three years, Fleeman has managed to increase the popularity of wrestling on campus, growing his program from five wrestlers in 2018-19 to 16 in 2021-22. Along with the growth of the program, Fleeman has brought back a winning culture to the program, capping off this past season with seven dual meet wins, despite not filling a full roster. The NDCL lions also set some school records this past season by having six placers at the sectional tournament, five district qualifiers, and one state qualifier. Fleeman has also been working closely with our local colleges in creating a wrestling summer camp open to all ages and grade levels K-12 right here on NDCL’s campus. He is looking forward to the coming years with new lions, as we strive in building our knowledge in the classroom, on the mat, and in life.
Fleeman wrestled at Mayfield high school as a three-year varsity starter. After graduation, Fleeman attended Notre Dame College where he was a part of the inaugural season of their football program. He spent some time away from athletics to focus on teaching. Fleeman became Notre Dame Cathedral Latins first full time Intervention Specialist working with students with disabilities. During this time he was the head coach of Mentor Memorial Wrestling for two years from 2016-2018, before becoming NDCL’s head wrestling coach. Coach Fleeman also assisted Coach Mooney on the NDCL football staff as the Varsity offensive line coach for the past six seasons.
Fleeman is a family man, whose wife Alexa and daughter Serafina (2 years old) can be seen in full support matside at each home event.
