Rachel Breckenridge named Manager of Athletic Communications

Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin is excited to announce the hiring of Rachel Breckenridge as Manager of Athletic Communications. She joined NDCL after serving as an assistant women's basketball coach in 2022-23 at Thiel College. She also served as Thiel's housing coordinator and a resident director.

Breckenridge graduated from Thiel College in 2022 with summa cum laude honors in May with a bachelor's degree in media and journalism. One of her class valedictorians, she also minored in religion.

During her time at Thiel, she served in various roles for the Athletic Department including; in-game PA, play-by-play announcer, wrote post-game recaps, and was the host of the "Tomcat Report", a weekly athletics update show for campus. In addition, she was a member of Thiel College Television (TCTV), a sports writer for the student newspaper, and hosted her own sports radio show on WXTC 88.1 FM in Greenville, PA. She also conducted in-studio interviews of coaches on campus as well.

"Rachel brings a wealth of knowledge in athletic communications from her college experience," said NDCL Athletic Director Jason Baxter. "As a former college student-athlete, she will serve as a great role model for our student-athletes."

She also found success on the basketball court where she concluded her career with the third-most three-point field goals in school history (160). She made seven three-pointers against Bridgewater on Nov. 11, 2021, tying her for the third-most in program history. A career 90.2 percent free-throw shooter and a three-year starter.

She was equally as impressive off the court at Thiel. She was a member of Theta Alpha Kappa, Alpha Chi and Chi Alpha Sigma, Breckenridge graduated with a 4.00 grade-point average and received the Dean's Key as an eight-semester Dean's List student. She was honored as a Thiel Student of the Month in October 2021 and was named to the PAC Academic Honor Roll four times.

Breckenridge received Thiel's J. Lynn Trimble Award in September 2022. She was nominated for the 2022 NCAA Woman of the Year award and was one of Thiel's representatives at the PAC Scholar-Athlete of the Year Banquet.

She is a graduate of Berkshire High School.
