In Memoriam: Joseph Spicuzza

The Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin School and NDCL Athletics is mourning the loss of longtime teacher and coach, Joseph Spicuzza.

Spicuzza started at NDCL as a teacher in 1990. He served as the chair of the school's physical education department. During his tenure at NDCL, he was head girls basketball coach from 1990-2002 and 2012-2019.

He also has coached at the college and high school levels. In addition to six years as head coach at John Carroll, he has held positions at Kenston, Aurora, Kirtland and Fairview.

Spicuzza had two different tenures as the head coach of John Carroll women's basketball. He was head coach from 1976-79 and 1985-88, he finished with a 89-32 record.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, May 23 from 3:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at McGorray-Hanna Funeral Homes of Westlake. The funeral will be held on Wednesday, May 24 at 10 a.m. at St. Mark Church, 15800 Montrose Avenue.
