Pietro DeMichele Named NDCL Head Girls Basketball Coach

Chardon, OH (May 9, 2023) -- The Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin School Athletic Department announced the hiring of Pietro DeMichele as the new head girls basketball coach on Tuesday morning. 

DeMichele has served as an Assistant Basketball Coach for both boys and girls basketball programs during his tenure at NDCL. He served as part of the girls basketball coaching staff that reached the District Finals in 2016-2017 and the District Semifinals in 2017-2018. 

"I am extremely grateful for the opportunity that the NDCL athletic department has given me to lead our girls' basketball program," DeMichele said. " I am excited to work with our extraordinarily intelligent and hard-working student athletes in the sport I am most passionate about.

He also served as Boys Track & Field Head Coach from 2019-2022 after serving as assistant coach in both the NDCL boys and girls track programs since 2016, which included working with the jumpers. In 2018, he helped coach the boys jumpers who broke both long jump and high jump team records, as well as a girls high jump state placer (Emma Liberatore, 3rd) and boys high jump regional qualifier (David Martin Kosier).

He has also served as Boys Soccer Varsity Assistant Coach since 2013.  He was part of the coaching staff that won a district championship and advanced to the regional finals in 2019. 

"Pete DeMichele is a class-act. He has been an unbelievable asset to our school community, and as a coach for many years," said NDCL Athletic Director Nick Carillon. "We know he will continue to be just that in this new role. We are extremely excited for what the future holds in our Girls Basketball program."

He currently serves as Assistant Director of Admissions. He also served as a Health & Wellness Aide. He initially joined the NDCL family as an Athletic Trainer for Precision Orthopedic Specialties in 2009.  

DeMichele is a 2004 graduate of Mercyhurst University with a degree in sports medicine.

The Geneva High School graduate currently lives in Chardon.
