Devin Hernandez Named Associate Athletic Director for Sports Performance

Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin is pleased to announce the hiring of Devin Hernandez as the Lion's new Associate Athletic Director for Sports Performance.

Hernandez joins the NDCL community after spending the last two years as the Assistant Strength and Conditioning coach at Hawken School.

"First, I'd like to thank Principal Jodi Ricci and Athletic Director Jason Baxter for providing me with this incredible opportunity in NDCL Athletics," Hernandez said.  "The tradition of excellence in academics and athletics at this institution goes back decades, and I am humbled to be a part of it."

He began his journey in Sports Performance during his collegiate career serving as a student intern (2018), graduate assistant (2019-20), and ultimately an assistant strength and conditioning coach at Nebraska-Kearney (2020-21).

Hernandez added, "Sports Performance has been a passion of mine from when I was a student-athlete that has only grown with time, and my hope is to foster an environment in which students here can find that same passion in pursuing their goals, athletics, and otherwise. My family and I already feel welcomed by the community here and look forward to our future as Lions!"

While at Nebraska-Kearney, Hernandez was a four-year member of the football team. He received academic accolades (2016-2018) from the MIAAA, as well as being named All-Nebraska Division II Offensive Line (2018).

"We're excited to be able to provide a full-time strength and conditioning coach for our student-athletes," said NDCL Athletic Director Jason Baxter. "Devin Hernandez was a home run hire! He has proven himself at both the collegiate and high school levels, he brings both experience and credentials to make an immediate impact on our strength and conditioning program at NDCL."

Hernandez began his tenure in August. Coach Hernandez has already hit the ground running; revamping the schedule structure in the weight room, complete revamp of the weight room space, and he has done a tremendous job building relationships with both coaches and student-athletes.

He received his Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science at Nebraska, as while as a Master's Degree in Physical Education Exercise Science. He is also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS).

He currently resides in Cleveland with his wife and son.
