Congratulations to Elena Fleming on winning her 100th career match! She achieved this impressive career milestone on Thursday at Beachwood in Varsity Tennis' final regular season match of the season. Fleming finished 2024 regular season play with a perfect 22-0 record. She is the first tennis player in school history to reach 100 career wins and go undefeated in the regular season.
The senior has added a plethora of accomplishments to her decorated tennis resume in her four years at NDCL. She is a four-time first singles conference champion and MVP, four-time News-Herald First Team, and News-Herald Player of the Year in 2021.
Fleming has also been named an Ohio Tennis Zone's Top Players List in the state and to the All-Ohio Girls Team for the past four years. In 2021, she was named a Girls Tennis All-Star by the Cleveland Plain Dealer and an All-Ohioan by the OHSAA. In 2023, she was the recipient of the prestigious Northeast Ohio Diane McNeal Junior Sportsmanship Award from the USTA.
Fleming is a three-time district qualifier, two-time state qualifier (2020 & 2023), and is the defending sectionals champion. She finished fourth in the division II state tournament in her freshman year. The two-year team captain has compiled a dominant four-year record of 100 wins and only 15 losses.
Fleming now prepares for OHSAA divison I postseason competition beginning on Monday, September 30th at sectionals. This season, she will play doubles with her teammate freshman
