LAST WEEK
Varsity Football defeated Elyria Catholic 45-21 in week nine to move to 7-2 on the season. The Lions were led once again by quarterback Brady Capel, who accounted for four touchdowns, three passing, and one rushing. Capel threw for 187 yards and completed ten of his 16 pass attempts. He also rushed for 36 yards. Casey McInnerney, Robby Lipowski, and Carmen Cirino all caught a touchdown pass in the game. McInnerney recorded a team-high of 63 receiving yards. Dylan Hoenigman rushed for a team-high of 64 yards and a touchdown. Braeden Ryan also rushed for a Lions touchdown, punching it in from the two-yard line. Brendan Hernan tallied team-highs in tackles (10), tackles for loss (2), and sacks (2) on defense. Robby Lipowski recorded eight tackles, and Drake Berschig and Carmen Cirino had seven tackles each. Blake Dumermuth and Casey McInnerney each had an interception in the game.
