Lion Sports Weekly (Week of December 1st)

BOWLING 
at Solon (12/3)- NDCL Boys Bowling lost 2326-1885 to Solon in their fourth match of the season. Senior Mitchell Wesen was the high bowler for the Lions with a 246 high game and 424 series. Girls Bowling lost their first match of the season to Solon 1710-1535. Senior Allie Wiseman led the team with a high game of 189 and 350 series. NDCL Boys Bowling moved to 2-2 and Girls Bowling to 3-1 to start the season. 

Wickliffe Tournament (12/6)-
NDCL Girls and Boys Bowling competed in the Wickliffe Tournament at Wickliffe Lanes on Saturday. The girls team finished in seventh place and were led by a career-high day from sophomore Katie McGill. McGill bowled a new career-high game (158) and three-game series (368) in the tournament. The boys team finished in 14th place. All four seniors posted new career highs for the Lions in Derek Scheidt (473 three-game series), Mitchell Wesen (552 three-game series), Aaron Cotturo (187 high game and 480 three-game series), and Alex Willis (213 high game and 558 three-game series). Both teams will face off against Shaker Heights in a dual match on Monday, December 8th 
 
BOYS BASKETBALL 
vs Hawken (12/5)- Boys Varsity Basketball fell to a talented, experienced Hawken squad 81-67 in the 2025-26 home opener in McGarry Gym. The Lions trailed the Hawks 40-26 at the half before going on a 9-0 run to cut the lead to just five points to start the third quarter. NDCL battled through three quarters with great effort and energy but were unable to get within five points for the remainder of the game. The Lions were led by senior forward Brendan Hernan with a team and a new career-high of 27 points to go along with eight rebounds. Fellow senior Luke Keep also set a new career-high of 19 points and knocked down three three-pointers. Boys JV Basketball fell to Hawken 73-51 and Boys Freshman Basketball won their first game of the season 38-34. 

vs Harvey (12/6)-
NDCL Boys Varsity Basketball defeats Harvey 78-71 at home to capture their first win of the season. Junior forward Wesley Jacobson scored nearly half of the Lions' points in the game, as he scored a game and a new career-high of 33 points. In addition, he knocked down five three-pointers. Luke Keep also contributed double-figure scoring with 15 points, his second straight game scoring ten-plus. Brendan Hernan and junior Jason Rook tallied 12 points each, a career-high for Rook. Boys JV Basketball lost 62-60 to Harvey. The Boys Basketball program will be back in action on Tuesday, December 9th at Kenston.  
 
WRESTLING 
Hawken Invitational (12/6)- NDCL Wrestling finishes in 10th place overall of 17 teams competing in the Hawken Invitational with 68.5 points. Senior Zach Bores had the top finish for the Lions in the tournament. Bores took second place in the 215-weight class and went 3-1 in his matches. Braeden Jacobson took fourth place at 165, winning two of his three matches. Trey Sweeney finished fifth place in the 190-weight class and went 4-1 in his matches. Lauren Cameron took seventh place overall at the Mike Fording Invitational at Brush High School on Sunday. Cameron went 1-2 in her matches on the day. The Lions will be back on the mats next Saturday, December 13th in the Al Pinter Memorial Tournament at Cuyahoga Heights.  
 
ICE HOCKEY 
vs Brooklyn (12/6)- NDCL Ice Hockey dominated Brooklyn 11-1 at home for their third win of the season. The Lions had six different players contribute to the 11-goal offensive onslaught. The team was led by sophomore Joshua Hollobaugh with a career-high of five goals. Senior Colin Krajnak scored two goals and Nic Davis, Anthony Golden, Gavin Knapton, and Nicholas Rosca all scored one goal each. Senior goalie Nate McClellan recorded four saves in the game. The Lions will be back on the ice on Saturday, December 13th versus Cleveland Heights. 
 
GIRLS BASKETBALL 
at Shaker Heights (12/7)- Girls Varsity Basketball cruises to their third straight win over Shaker Heights 58-15 in the fourth annual Danny Young Classic. Sophomore forward/guard Coco Cochran paced the Lions with a game and career-high of 22 points. She was also named MVP of the 2025 Danny Young Tournament. Senior shooting guard Emma Surbey tallied nine points and knocked down a team-high of three three-pointers. Lily Reginelli and Maya Rowan both scored seven points in the win, a career-high for Reginelli off the Lions' bench. The Girls Basketball program hosts Riverside on Wednesday, December 10th in their home opener as they look to start the season 4-0.
