Congratulations to Ava Lewandowski on being named News-Herald Player of the Week for the week of February 9th.
On February 11th, NDCL Girls Gymnastics hosted their annual Senior Night Meet at Chalk It Up in Chagrin Falls. The meet format is done per class, meaning that the freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior classes from each school (Madison, Mentor, Perry & Riverside) all compete against each other. Lewandowski led the seniors to a commanding victory and led the Lions in the meet in three out of the five scoring categories. She scored a 9.05 on vault, 6.7 on bars, and a 30.7 in the all-around. The senior has consistently been one of the team's top scorers in multiple events across seven meets this season.
The Girls Gymnastics team has had quite the successful regular season, finishing second in The High School Challenge and taking fourth in the Catholic Cup tournament. This season has also featured many personal best performances from Lewandowski and many of her teammates under head coach Alicia Lewandowski's leadership.
Lewandowski and the NDCL Girls Gymnastics team compete in the OHSAA District Tournament on Saturday, February 28th with a trip to the state tournament for those who qualify.
Great job this season, Ava, and on your player of the week honors!
