NDCL Athletics Top Performers: Week of February 2nd

Nic Davis, Sophomore – Ice Hockey: Davis scored the game-winning goal in NDCL's 3-2 overtime thriller versus CVCA in the first round of the Baron Cup. The sophomore recorded two of the team's three goals scored in the game. He also scored one goal and tallied one assist in the Lions' 6-2 loss to one-seeded Westlake in the second round of the Baron Cup tournament. 

Brooke Dynes, Senior – Girls Swimming: Dynes recorded three first place finishes in NDCL's Senior Night mini-invitational on Monday. 
She took first in the 50-breaststroke (30.20), 100-IM (1.01.94), and was part of the 200-medley relay team that finished in first place with a time of 2:04.77. 

Emma Surbey, Senior – Girls Basketball: In 
NDCL's two-point loss to Holy Name, Surbey recorded new career highs in both points (12) and three-pointers made (4). In the team's 42-37 win over Lake Catholic, Surbey continued her hot shooting, knocking down three three-pointers for nine total points.  

Brendan Hernan, Senior – Boys Basketball: In NDCL's 88-81 loss to a high-powered VASJ team, Hernan led all scorers with a game and new career-high 28 poi
nts. Hernan logged a combined 39 points across two games this week. 

Jason Rook, Junior – Boys Basketball: Rook recorded a team and new career-high 19 points in NDCL's loss to CVCA on Tuesday. In two games this week, Rook totaled 32 points.
 

Mitchell Wesen, Senior – Boys Bowling: Wesen led the Lions at sectionals with a 204 high game and 566 series to advance to districts as an individual. He finished 
fourth place overall and is the eighth bowler in school history to qualify for districts. 

Emilee Gruss, Sophomore – Indoor Track: Gruss recorded three top ten finishes in two meets this week. In the NEOITC Green Meet #3, she took second in the 200M dash (27.03) and fift
h in the 400M dash (1:02.33). In the Kent State HS Meet #2, she led the team with the top individual finish on the day, taking sixth in the 200M dash with a time of 26.68.
