Lion Sports Weekly (Week of March 16th)

GIRLS LACROSSE 
at Buckeye (3/16)- Girls Varsity Lacrosse starts the 2026 season 1-0 with a 7-0 shutout win at Buckeye. Macey Beers led the Lions with a game-high of three goals. Maggie Kane followed with two goals and Meredith Gerbitz and Lily Reginelli scored one goal each. Gerbitz, Julia Martin, and Zoe Damberger all recorded one assist. Goalies Fallon Campolieti and Sadie Skotzke combined for five saves.  

at Avon Lake (3/19)-
 Girls Varsity Lacrosse fell 11-8 to Avon Lake on the road. The game was tied 4-4 heading into halftime. Avon Lake produced a strong second half offensively, outscoring the Lions 7-4 and going on to win by three. Macey Beers recorded a game and a new career-high of five goals. Meredith Gerbitz scored two goals and Gia Roberts contributed one. Maggie Kane and Ava Downing tallied one assist each. Fallon Campolieti logged eight saves in goal. Girls JV Lacrosse lost 10-4 to Avon Lake in their first game of the season. 

vs Southeast (3/21)-
 Girls Varsity Lacrosse defeated Southeast in an impressive 17-0 offensive display. Nine different Lions contributed to the 17-goal scoring extravaganza. Macey Beers and Maggie Kane tied for a game-high four goals; Julia Martin and Calista Cochran scored two goals each, and Meredith Gerbitz, Elizabeth Keefe, Lily Fakult, Olivia Reagan, and Sadie Beers all tallied one goal. Kane and M. Beers paced the team with three and two assists, and C. Cochran, Martin, Keefe, and S. Beers all contributed one assist. Girls Varsity Lacrosse starts the season 2-1 with two shutout wins. The Lions retake the field on Tuesday, March 24th at Chardon, Varsity game at 5:30 PM with JV to follow at 7:00 PM.  
 
BOYS LACROSSE 
vs Louisville (3/18)- Boys Varsity Lacrosse lost in the final seconds to Louisville in their season and home opener 8-7. The Leopards scored in the final 30 seconds of the fourth quarter to hand the Lions their first loss of the season after a high scoring, back-and-forth contest. Cullen Purcell paced the Lions with a game-high three goals. Ryder Gorman followed with two goals and Marco Leccese and Alex Jaworski scored one goal each. Braeden Jacobson logged seven saves in his first varsity start in goal. Boys JV Lacrosse fell 5-3 to Louisville. The team will be back in action on Tuesday, March 24th to host the Benedictine Bengals, game is varsity only at 6:00 PM.  
 
GIRLS FLAG FOOTBALL 
vs Lake Catholic / Conneaut (3/22)- Girls Varsity Flag Football lost 34-0 and 6-36 to Lake Catholic and Conneaut in week one of the 2026 season. Girls JV Flag Football fell 19-2 to Mentor B.
