Lion Sports Weekly (Week of March 2nd)

BOYS BASKETBALL 
at Canfield (3/3)- Boys Basketball's season came to an end in the district semifinal at Canfield in a hard-fought, competitive battle 72-65. The Lions were outscored 22-13 in the second quarter, trailing 35-21 at halftime. NDCL fought back with a 24-point third quarter and outscored Canfield by five. After a back-and-forth start to the fourth, Canfield pulled away and went on to win the game by seven and advanced to the district final. Brendan Hernan led the Lions with a game-high 25 points and Jason Rook and Wesley Jacobson both scored in double figures with 15 and 12 points. Congratulations to the Boys Basketball team on a great 2025-26 season!  
 
INDOOR TRACK 
Girls at OATCCC DII State Meet (3/6)- Zoey Myers, Lucy Edger, Melanie Drazdik, and Emilee Gruss from the Girls Indoor Track team qualified for and competed in the OATCCC DII State Meet on Friday. Myers and Edger started the day for the team in the 800M run. Myers took seventh place with a time of 2:19.41, a new school record. Edger followed in eighth place in 2:20.42, a personal record for the sophomore. Myers and Edger earned NHSTFXCCA All-American honors for their seventh and eighth place performances in the 800M run. The 4x400 relay team of Myers, Edger, Drazdik, and Gruss finished in fourth place with a time of 4:06.10, shaving three seconds off their recently set school record just a few weeks back. Congratulations to the Girls Indoor Track team on a great season filled with new school/personal records and achievements! 

Boys at OATCCC DIII State Meet (3/7)-
 Casey McInnerney, Brandon DiPasquale, Tyler Milk, Jakob Henderson, Jimmy Geralis, and Rob Bonchak from the Boys Indoor Track team qualified for and competed in the OATCCC State Meet on Saturday. The day began with Casey McInnerney in the 60M dash and triple jump. He set new school records for both events. In the 60M dash, he earned an eighth-place finish with a time of 7.08. In the triple jump, McInnerney took fourth place with a 42' 6" mark. The 4x200 relay team of DiPasquale, Milk, Henderson, and Geralis finished 13th in the 4x200 relay. The 4x400 relay team of McInnerney, DiPasquale, Milk, and Bonchak finished the day with a 10th place finish. Casey McInnerney and Rob Bonchak were named NHSTFXCCA All-Americans for the 2025-26 season. Congratulations to the Boys Indoor Track team on an eventful season of record setting performances and team/individual successes!
