Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin volleyball fell to St. Joseph Academy in three sets, 25-13, 25-23, 25-19.
After St. Joseph Academy took the opening set, 25-13, the Lions responded with their strongest push of the match in the second.
NDCL stayed within striking distance throughout the set and pushed St. Joseph Academy to the finish before falling by two points, 25-23. The Jaguars then closed out the match with a 25-19 victory in the third.
Frankie Brick led the NDCL attack with nine kills while contributing five digs, three aces and two blocks. Mia Moirissis added six kills and five digs.
Audra Smith and Julia Janosy each recorded four kills. Smith also finished with three blocks and an assist, while Janosy added a block.
Ryley Murphy directed the Lions' offense with a team-high 12 assists while adding seven digs and an ace. Kami Titman contributed nine assists and four digs.
Sam Wheeler anchored the defensive effort with a team-high 13 digs and added two assists.
While the Lions were unable to extend the match, their response following the opening set produced a much tighter second and third as NDCL continued to compete against St. Joseph Academy.
