Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin JV girls tennis saw its four-match winning streak come to an end Tuesday, but not before another close team performance in a 3-2 loss to Chagrin Falls.

NDCL's doubles teams continued their strong early-season play, earning victories across all three doubles matches played.

Gabby Dempsey and Irelynn Koenig earned the victory at No. 1 doubles, while Ela Gryzwinski and Bridget Coulson teamed up for a win at No. 2. Kiera Murphy and Livy Lukacs also came away victorious at No. 3 doubles.

With the team match hanging in the balance, singles play provided two closely contested tiebreakers. The Lions captured one, but Chagrin Falls prevailed in another third-set tiebreaker to secure the deciding point and the 3-2 team victory.

"We won one tiebreaker but lost another," head coach Alex Dowger said. "They're exciting to watch but heartbreaking to lose. We'll regroup for the next match."

The result snapped a four-match winning streak for a JV Lions team that had put together consecutive victories over Bay, Elyria Catholic, Holy Name and Padua.

NDCL will have an immediate opportunity to respond when the Lions travel to CVCA on Wednesday, Aug. 26.
