Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin girls golf used strong course management and familiarity with Shawnee Hills Golf Course to earn a 179-193 road victory over Padua on Wednesday.

The Lions entered the match having recently competed at Shawnee Hills under similar conditions. That experience proved valuable as NDCL navigated the challenges of the course and secured a 14-stroke victory.

Sophomore Lillian Kasper led the Lions with a team-low 41.

Senior Alexis Urigel followed with a 43, while junior Juliette Racic carded a 45 and senior Claire Ribic added a 46. Senior Taylor Wallingford finished with a 49, and junior Hadleigh Hazen rounded out the lineup with a 58.

Kasper, Urigel, Racic and Ribic combined for NDCL's four counting scores and the team total of 179.

The performance reflected an approach the Lions have emphasized throughout the early portion of the season: focus on the process and respond to the challenges each course presents.

"Each time we go to a course we face challenges," the coaching staff said. "We have an open mindset and work to control the controllables — attitude, appearance and effort."

Wednesday's victory was NDCL's second over Padua this season. The Lions also earned a 167-181 win when the teams met at Tanglewood on Aug. 19.

NDCL now turns its attention to a special afternoon at Fowler's Mill Golf Course. The Lions host Laurel on Tuesday, Sept. 1, for Senior Day.
