The Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin girls golf team opened the 2026 season in championship fashion Monday, capturing first place at the Second Annual Battle of the Border Tournament at Bronzwood Golf Course.
The Lions posted a team score of 353 to finish ahead of Bristol, Edgewood, Lake, Midview and PV, earning the tournament title in a strong opening performance.
Sophomore Lillian Kasper paced the Lions with an 84, while senior Alexis Urigel followed closely with an 85. Seniors Claire Ribic and Junior Taylor Wallingford each contributed rounds of 92, and junior Juliette Racic rounded out the scoring with a 96.
The balanced lineup and steady play throughout the day reflected the team's emphasis on consistency from the opening tee shot to the final putt.
"Our main focus was to stay consistent with our pre-shot routine and focus on what we can control," said head coach Tiger Alexander following the victory.
The season-opening championship provides early momentum as the Lions begin another competitive campaign and establishes a strong foundation heading into the rest of the schedule.
NDCL returns to action Wednesday, Aug. 5, when it travels to Fox Den Golf Course for an 11 a.m. match against CVCA.
