NDCL names David Cole as Head Girls Tennis Coach

Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin Athletics is excited to announce the appointment of David Cole as Head Coach of the Girls Tennis program for the 2026 season.

"After a thorough search, it was clear that David Cole possesses the exact blend of strategic expertise, leadership, and passion needed to take our tennis program to the next level. David has a proven
track record of nurturing talent, fostering a culture of discipline, and developing student-athletes both on and off the court," said NDCL Athletic Director Andy Pohl. "David will bring a positive, innovative approach to our team, creating an environment where our student-athletes feel valued and motivated to achieve their highest potential."

Coach Cole brings over 15 years of coaching experience at the high school level. He began his coaching career at Beachwood High School in 2011, starting as
the JV Girls Coach and was quickly hired as the Boys Varsity Head Coach in 2012. In just his second year as head coach in 2013, Cole led the team to a 19-1 record, won the Northeast Ohio Team Tournament, and advanced to the State Final Four. He also coached multiple individuals from Beachwood Boys Tennis to the district and state tournament, including a doubles team that took fourth place at state in 2013. Cole returned to Beachwood in 2023, this time as the Head Coach of the Girls Tennis program. Under Coach Cole's leadership, Beachwood Girls Tennis completed the 2023 regular season 14-7 after winning just one match the previous year. In 2024, Beachwood Girls Tennis was voted as a top seven team in Northeast Ohio, with both doubles teams qualifying for the district tournament.

"I am honored to be hired by NDCL as their Varsity Girls Tennis Coach.
I believe there is good alignment with the athletic department on the goals for the program," said Cole. "I taught a few of the NDCL girls at clinics and watched them at the sectional and the district last fall. There is a foundation and we will build on it. The goal is success on and off the court while creating a memorable experience for them."

Coach Cole has been teaching clinics and private lessons at Mayfield Raquet Club since 2014
and serves as the Director of Tennis for the cities of Beachwood and Highland Heights.

In his free time, Cole continues to play competitively in adult USTA Tennis leagues. H
is daughter played collegiate tennis at the NCAA DIII level at Baldwin Wallace University.

NDCL is thrilled to welcome Coach Cole to the NDCL Athletics coaching staff and look forward to the continued growth and success of the Girls Tennis program.
