Congratulations to Bella Wooke on being named News-Herald Player of the Week for the week of April 27th.
Wooke's solid play propelled the Lions to a 2-0 season sweep of conference foe CVCA on Monday and Thursday last week.
In Monday's dominant 9-1 victory, Wooke paced the Lions with a team high of two hits on four at-bats. The junior first baseman recorded another two hits on four attempts, one RBI, and scored one run in NDCL's 6-5 win on Wednesday.
Wooke, a varsity starter since her freshman year, has been an integral part of the Lions' success over the past three seasons. She is known for her consistent play on the softball field, recognized for making smart plays both with her bat and at first base. Wooke leads the team this season in batting average (.491), home runs (3), and is second on the team in RBI (22) and runs (21).
Varsity Softball is currently 12-6 on the season and 6-4 in conference play with three games left in the regular season. The Lions host the Padua Bruins for a conference battle today at 5:00 PM on senior night at the NDCL Softball Field.
