Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin girls golf continued its strong early-season play Wednesday, earning a 167-181 victory over Padua in a North Coast Conference matchup at Tanglewood Golf Club.

The Lions placed three golfers at 43 or better to build the foundation for the 14-stroke victory.

Senior Alexis Urigel led NDCL with a 36, while sophomore Lillian Kasper followed with a 40. Senior Claire Ribic added a 43 to give the Lions three strong rounds at the top of the lineup.

Seniors Taylor Wallingford and Hadleigh Hazen each carded a 48, while Juliette Racic finished with a 50.

NDCL's performance came on a challenging nine holes at Tanglewood, putting the Lions' season-long emphasis on remaining focused on their approach to the test.

"We navigated a challenging nine holes at Tanglewood GC," the coaching staff said. "Process over outcome is how we try to approach each opportunity."

That approach centers on controlling what the Lions can control rather than allowing an individual result — good or bad — to dictate the next shot.

"You can hit a good shot and get a bad break and hit a bad shot and get a good break," the coaching staff said. "So we do our best to control the controllables."

The victory gives NDCL another positive result against a conference opponent as the Lions continue building through the opening weeks of the season.

NDCL returns to tournament competition Friday, Aug. 21, at the Shawnee Hills Tournament.
