Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin JV football wasted little time making an impact in its season opener Saturday, combining a smothering defensive effort with a quick-strike offense to defeat Struthers, 41-6, at NDCL.

The Lions jumped in front early and never relinquished control, with young players contributing on both sides of the ball.

Will Gerbitz led an opportunistic NDCL defense with three interceptions, repeatedly ending Struthers possessions and helping put the Lions' offense in position to capitalize.

Quarterback Brody Moran accounted for three touchdowns, throwing two scoring passes and adding another touchdown on the ground.

NDCL also found success in the rushing attack. Braeden Jacobson scored twice on the ground, while Vinny Dietrich broke free for a long touchdown run. Dietrich also made an impact defensively as the Lions limited Struthers to six points.

The combination of takeaways, explosive plays and contributions throughout the lineup allowed NDCL to build an early advantage and maintain control through the remainder of the game.

The 41-6 victory gives the JV Lions a strong start to the 2026 season and an early opportunity for a young group to gain valuable game experience.

NDCL heads on the road for its next contest at West Geauga.
