Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin boys golf traveled to Ashland Country Club on Sunday and posted a team score of 327 to finish second in a three-team event featuring St. Francis DeSales and Lake Catholic.

St. Francis DeSales of Columbus claimed the team victory with a 322, five strokes ahead of the Lions. NDCL finished 21 strokes ahead of Lake Catholic, which carded a 348.

Paul Williams and Caige Cochran led the Lions with matching rounds of 81.

Kevin Suvak made an immediate contribution in his first varsity appearance, finishing one stroke behind Williams and Cochran with an 82.

The trio's scores helped keep NDCL within striking distance of DeSales as the Lions added another competitive tournament performance to their early-season schedule.

Suvak's varsity debut also provided another example of the depth developing within the NDCL golf program as the season progresses.

The Lions have a quick turnaround following Sunday's competition. NDCL returns to the course Monday, Aug. 24, to face Benedictine at Highland.
