Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin JV girls tennis remained unbeaten in North Coast Conference play Wednesday, combining a doubles sweep with a determined performance from Chloe Schilling to earn a 3-2 road victory over CVCA.

The Lions improved to 5-4 overall and a perfect 4-0 in conference play.

NDCL set the tone in doubles, where Nina Injic and Jameson Smith joined Paige Bittner and Ela Grzywinski in securing straight-set victories. The two wins helped reverse the result from last season's matchup with CVCA and put the Lions in position to secure the team victory.

The deciding point came from junior co-captain Schilling at No. 1 singles.

In a match that lasted approximately two hours, Schilling turned in what head coach Alex Dowger called her best performance of the season. She had to battle from behind in a second-set tiebreaker before completing the victory and delivering NDCL's third team point.

"Another solid performance by doubles teams," Dowger said. "Best match of the season for co-captain No. 1 singles player Chloe Schilling."

The win provided an immediate response for NDCL after a narrow 3-2 loss to Chagrin Falls one day earlier. More importantly, the Lions maintained their perfect start to conference competition.

Through four North Coast Conference matches, NDCL is now 4-0.

The Lions return to action Monday, Aug. 31, against Beaumont.
