Season-Low 156 Lifts NDCL Boys Golf Past Kenston

Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin boys golf delivered its lowest nine-hole team score of the season Thursday, firing a 156 to earn a 156-164 road victory over Kenston.

The Lions received a balanced effort throughout the lineup, with four golfers shooting 40 or better.

Danny Zaller led NDCL with a team-low 38. Caige Cochran and Paul Williams followed with matching 39s, while Lincoln Miller's 40 completed the Lions' four counting scores and the season-best team total.

Hamilton Miller rounded out the lineup with a 44.

With Kenston staying within striking distance, NDCL maintained its composure and finished strong to secure the eight-stroke victory.

"The boys are improving every week," head coach Edward Trebets said. "This will be good momentum going into the postseason."

Thursday's 156 also continued a notable week of improvement for the Lions. One day earlier, NDCL shot a 163 in a victory over Benedictine. The Lions lowered that total by seven strokes against Kenston while placing all four counting rounds within two strokes of one another.

That consistency helped NDCL turn a close road test into another victory as the Lions continue building toward postseason competition.

NDCL returns to the course Saturday, Aug. 29.
