LAST WEEK 
NDCL Varsity Football dominated West Geauga 38-12 on the road to start the season 2-0. The Lions were led by senior running back Dylan Hoenigman on offense. Hoenigman recorded four touchdowns on 16 carries for 132 yards. Junior quarterback Brady Capel recorded 100-plus yards both passing and rushing in the game. Capel threw for two touchdowns on 19/28 passing for 27 yards. He rushed for 119 yards on 16 quarterback carries. Joey Velotta rushed for 29 yards on 16 carries for two scores. Casey McInnerney caught eight of Capel's passes for 99 yards and a touchdown. Junior Carmen Cirino recorded his first kick return touchdown of his career for 80 yards to the house. Cirino also notched a game and career-high of two interceptions. On defense, junior Braeden Ryan tallied a team-high 13 tackles to go along with one tackle for loss, a forced fumble, and fumble recovery. Vance Marut recorded 13 tackles, two tackles for loss, and one sack. Brendan Hernan and Joey Penny combined for 22 tackles and two sacks. Blake Dumermuth broke up two passes and had an interception for the second straight game. Kicker Ryan Cvitkovic went 5/5 on his point after attempts.  
 
NEXT WEEK  
The Lions host Benedictine on Alumni Night in Lion Stadium on Friday, September 12th at 7:00 PM. Benedictine will be the Lion's first-ever conference matchup since the North Coast Conference was founded in 2024.
