Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin girls golf battled Padua through 18 holes and beyond Tuesday at the North Coast Conference Championship, finishing tied at 364 before a tiebreaker determined the championship at Grey Hawk Golf Club.
With sustained winds affecting play throughout the day, the Lions and Bruins went back and forth before finishing regulation play even at 364.
The championship was decided by a tiebreaker, with Padua earning the title based on the designated scoring comparison on No. 5.
Lillian Kasper led NDCL with an 87, while Claire Ribic followed one stroke behind with an 88. Juliette Racic added a 95.
The result came five days after NDCL's 14-match winning streak in head-to-head competition ended at Kenston. The Lions responded by putting themselves in position to contend for the conference championship through the final scoring comparison.
"Our team battled in this tight contest from start to finish, including the strong sustained winds that altered shots all day," head coach Tiger Alexander said. "Proud of how we competed and put ourselves in position to tie."
With the conference portion of the season complete, NDCL now turns its attention to postseason competition.
The Lions will compete in the sectional tournament Wednesday, Sept. 30, at 8:30 a.m. at Fox Den Golf Course.
