Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin girls golf used its final competition before sectionals to turn in a strong team performance Wednesday, defeating Rocky River 167-224 at Tanglewood.
Alexis Urigel led the Lions with an even-par 36, while Claire Ribic followed with a 3-over 39. Lillian Kasper completed a strong top three for NDCL by carding a 42, six over par.
Taylor Wallingford's 50 rounded out NDCL's four counting scores as the Lions combined for a 167.
Juliette Racic added a 53, while Hadleigh Hazen finished with a 58.
The match served an important purpose beyond the final score. With the sectional tournament one week away, NDCL had an opportunity to return to competition and work through another nine-hole round before shifting its full attention to the postseason.
"Critical for the team to get an opportunity to compete prior to the sectional tournament," head coach Tiger Alexander said.
Urigel's even-par round highlighted the afternoon, while Ribic and Kasper gave NDCL three players at 42 or better.
With the regular-season tune-up complete, the Lions now turn their attention to postseason play.
NDCL will compete in the sectional tournament at Fox Den Golf Course on Wednesday, Sept. 30.
