Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin girls soccer honored five seniors Monday before battling Kirtland to a 1-1 draw in the Lions' final home stretch of the regular season.
NDCL recognized Sydney Andreano, Madalena Fulton, Elizabeth Keefe, Giavanna Tibaldi and Kelly Kolenic as part of Senior Night festivities.
Once play began, the Lions took the lead in the 30th minute. Ella Ko scored her team-leading 13th goal of the season, putting NDCL in front 1-0 and sending the Lions into halftime with the advantage.
Kirtland responded quickly after the break, scoring less than two minutes into the second half to even the match at 1-1.
From there, neither side found the go-ahead goal.
Goalkeeper Sadie Wurm made five saves, helping NDCL keep Kirtland off the scoreboard for the remainder of the match. The Lions' defense continued to provide stability while the offense created opportunities but was unable to find a second goal.
"We played well, just having a difficult time finding the back of the net," the NDCL coaching staff said. "Defense is keeping us in the games, we need to score!"
The Lions will return to action Saturday, Oct. 10, when they travel to Mentor for a 3 p.m. match.
