Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin Athletics is excited to remove the interim tag and appoint Steve Steimetz as Head Basketball Coach of Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin School.
"The appointment of Coach Steinmetz reaffirms our commitment to education-based athletics and fully aligns with our mission of transformation." said Athletic Director Andy Pohl. "Coach Steinmetz has a proven track record of stability and continuity, nurturing talent, building relationships, fostering a positive team culture, and developing student-athletes on and off the court. Coach Steinmetz has shown to be a loyal, steady, and calm presence during his time at NDCL, both as an assistant and as an interim head coach on two separate occasions, and we look forward to continued growth of our basketball program under Steve's full direction and leadership."
Coach Steinmetz brings close to 20 years of coaching experience at the high school level, consistently prioritizing the holistic development of student athletes. Before coming to NDCL in 2022 as a Varsity Assistant, Coach Steinmetz served as a Freshman and JV Coach at Euclid before moving on to Eastlake North, his alma matter, where he was extremely impactful as a varsity assistant. Steve has been a public-school teacher for 29 years, spending his entire professional career with Euclid Public Schools. After 25 years in the classroom, Coach Steinmetz took on the role 4 years ago as an Instructional Coach, allowing him to impart his knowledge, pedagogy and experience to his teaching colleagues.
