Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin girls tennis received contributions throughout its lineup Thursday, earning a 4-1 home victory over Holy Name.

The Lions captured two singles matches and swept doubles play to secure the team win.

Ella Workinger continued her strong play at No. 1 singles with a straight-set victory, while Lea Nemer added another straight-set win at No. 2 singles.

NDCL carried that success into doubles.

Emma Wilcox and Paige Bittner teamed up for a straight-set victory at No. 1 doubles, while Ela Grzywinski and Irelynn Koenig followed with a straight-set win at No. 2 doubles to complete the Lions' four points.

The afternoon also provided an opportunity for freshman Estee Luiz to make her varsity debut in singles. Luiz won her opening set 6-4 before her opponent responded with a 6-2 victory in the second. The match came down to a third-set tiebreaker, where Luiz battled before narrowly falling.

Her performance provided another encouraging sign of the depth developing within the NDCL program.

The Lions also had another reason to celebrate Thursday, as the victory came on Bittner's 16th birthday. The team capped the evening with a celebratory dinner following the match.

NDCL returns home Monday, Aug. 24, to face Padua.
