Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin boys golf delivered when it mattered most Tuesday, overcoming difficult conditions and a one-stroke deficit on the final hole to capture the North Coast Conference Tournament championship with a team score of 326.

With the Lions trailing by one stroke entering the final hole, Caige Cochran made par to swing the championship in NDCL's favor and complete the victory.

"The boys never gave up and fought to the end," head coach Edward Trebets said. "The conditions were difficult, but the Lions kept grinding and pulled off the victory."

Hamilton Miller led NDCL with a 77, the Lions' low round of the tournament. Lincoln Miller followed with an 82, Danny Zaller carded an 83 and Cochran's 84 completed the four counting scores that produced NDCL's championship total of 326.

Paul Williams and Will Paskevich each added rounds of 88.

The championship also brought individual recognition for several Lions.

Hamilton Miller was named North Coast Conference Golfer of the Year, while Lincoln Miller and Danny Zaller earned first-team All-NCC honors. Cochran received second-team All-NCC honors.

For a team that has emphasized improvement throughout the season, Tuesday's championship required composure until the final shot. Faced with difficult conditions and a one-stroke deficit late in the tournament, the Lions remained within reach before Cochran's closing par provided the difference.

With the conference championship secured, NDCL now turns its attention to the postseason.

The Lions will compete in the sectional tournament Tuesday, Sept. 22, at Quail Hollow.
