Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin girls tennis continued its strong stretch Monday, earning a 4-1 home victory over Padua.

The Lions captured four of five courts against a solid Padua lineup, with a comeback at No. 2 doubles and a competitive straight-set victory at No. 2 singles highlighting the afternoon.

Seniors Gabby Dempsey and Audrey Kilmer found themselves trailing 3-1 in the opening set at No. 2 doubles. Rather than allowing the early deficit to grow, the duo responded by winning five consecutive games to take the set, 6-3.

Dempsey and Kilmer carried that momentum into the second set, winning 6-2 to complete the comeback and secure another point for NDCL.

At No. 2 singles, Emma Wilcox delivered another important victory. Wilcox controlled the opening set, 6-2, before being tested in the second. She remained composed in the tighter set and closed out the match, 7-5, for a 6-2, 7-5 victory.

Those performances helped the Lions secure their second consecutive 4-1 victory after defeating Holy Name by the same score in their previous match.

NDCL faces a quick turnaround, traveling to Chagrin Falls on Tuesday, Aug. 25.
