This amazing trio set numerous records during their senior year. They set a new indoor record for the two-mile relay in the 1944 Knights of Columbus Track Meet that lasted for over 10 years. Bill Eisele was the fourth member of that relay team. They won the Invitational Interscholastic two-mile relay by defeating Mercerburg Academy which had earned the national prep title a week earlier in New York's Madison Square Garden. Their time of 8:26 held up well into the fifties and is rarely equaled today. Gannon, McCabe, and Hill with Vic Rozance also won the same event in 1943. At the 1944 Newark Relays, Latin was the best Cleveland team through the efforts of the relay runners. With Eisele in the two mile relay and Adolph Znidarsic in the mile relay, this trio set meet records in both events. The standards of excellence set by the trio of McCabe, Hill, and Gannon was a goal that Latin men strived to attain during its future years. They have earned a place of honor in the Hall of Fame. Individually they were excellent, together they were amazing.
