Tony Dicenzo was a member of the great 1954 football squad which went undefeated with a record of 10-0 and increased Latin's record to 11 undefeated appearances in the Charity Game with a 12-0 victory over Holy Name before 33,000 fans at Cleveland Stadium. Tony played as a regular for three years. He played regular end as a sophomore and junior, winning letters both years. He received honorable mention All-Catholic as a junior. As a senior, he was shifted to tackle, both offensive and defensively along with his excellent line play. Tony also was the team's place kicker and kicked for 21 points after touchdowns. He was selected to the third All-American and All-Catholic team. Along with his football efforts, Tony won three letters as a regular center on the Lions basketball varsity. He was an excellent rebounder and scorer at 6'2" as well as a good defender. Tony scored 515 points during his three years on varsity. Although they finished with a 10-4 record and a tie for second place in the East Senate. They won the playoff game and went on to beat St. Ignatius for the City runner-up title.
