Hall of Fame
John Elwell played end on his team and was co-captain of the team which was coached by Fred George. He was selected to the All-East Senate team as well as the All-Scholastic team. John also particpated in the first East-West All-Star game. He also particpated in track and won the district high hurdle crown in 1957 and took third in the state.
John went on to Purdue and played all four years and was team co-captain. He was named to the All-Big Ten first team and received honorable mention as an All-American.

He furthered his football career with the St. Louis Cardinals for the 1962-63 season as a flanker and played the 1963-64 season in Canada with the Toronto Argonauts.
